Customizable live chat widget: glass, themes, radius, launcher

Most live chat widgets give you a color and a greeting. Cove’s Widget studio sets the look visitors actually see: theme, a single radius in pixels, launcher shape and mark, then a shared inbox behind it. That is the product.

People search “customizable live chat widget” when Intercom’s messenger looks like Intercom, or Crisp’s chatbox still looks like Crisp. Switch to Cove: messenger control plus a real shared inbox, billed per workspace. Pricing is Free through Plus from the same numbers we charge.

What you can set in Widget today

Open Widget after signup. These controls save on the website record and load in the iframe. There is no theme marketplace and no custom CSS field.

  • Theme: light, dark, glass, brand, or match the visitor’s system. Glass is frosted over the host page (blur + saturate). Brand tints surfaces with your accent.
  • Accent color and left/right position.
  • Corner radius 0–32px. 0 is square. One value drives the panel, bubbles, chips, cards, inputs, launcher, and unread badge.
  • Launcher: icon (56px) or pill with a label. Five marks (message, spark, support, help, chat) or an uploaded image.
  • Unread badge: red or brand color.
  • Two copy fields: home headline (greeting) and welcome (intro plus the optional teaser bubble).
  • URL-contains + delay page teasers in Widget studio. Broadcasts are a separate email campaign screen.
  • Starter chips, one per line. Help tab and News tab can be hidden.
  • Hide “We run on Cove”. Pricing lists white-label on Plus; the switch is on the Widget screen.

Glass, radius, launcher — why they are not decoration

A default blue bubble on every SaaS site is how visitors learn to ignore chat. Glass lets the host page show through. A 0px radius reads like a terminal; 24px reads like a phone sheet. A pill launcher with your mark is a different object than a generic message icon. Switch from Intercom’s color-and-welcome messenger, or from a Crisp chatbox, when the look is the reason visitors ignore chat.

What sits behind the messenger

The first visitor message is a conversation in a shared inbox: assign, internal notes, quick replies (shortcuts like /hours, with optional assign/tag/resolve on insert), snooze, resolve, then a 1–5 CSAT prompt. Public replies can email via Resend if the contact has a real address. Attachments land in widget-uploads. Published help articles search inside the panel and on {slug}.coveinbox.co. That loop is documented in Cove help.

What sits behind the look

  • Plus drafts from articles. Live workflows greet. No per-outcome meter.
  • Broadcasts for email. Widget teasers for a page.
  • Visitor map from recent country. Highlight on page from the inbox.
  • Live workflows persist. HubSpot, Shopify, and signed webhooks.
  • Web script plus WebView. Inbox as a PWA.
